Harry’s work is a mix of painting and collage, with a hint of nostalgia and a reach for contemporary art.

 

Aviation is an important source of inspiration. The year Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon, artist Harry Tomesen began his first flying lessons. Anno 2023 he still traverses the skies in his vintage glider. Harry evokes memories, though that may elude the viewer. Euphoria and drama merge.

 

Years ago, he witnessed an unfortunate landing of a plane in the trees. Fortunately the pilot stepped out of the destroyed plane unharmed, The wreckage remained a silent witness.

 

Harry now has an entire collection of aircraft residues and transform them into art. His artworks are a sequence of captivating image explorations and intriguing contrasts created by the use of authentic linen and plywood taken from approximately 50-year-old gliders.

 

Harry makes sculptures, paintings and collages. He is educated at KHL Art Academy Haarlem. He currently lives and works in Eemnes (the Netherlands)
